The next soup kitchen is
Four years ago, Covenant Community (formally Garden Church) started volunteering at a soup kitchen called Treasure House Ministries, or ICC. Due to a cut
in government funding, that volunteer opportunity was lost. The group joined another church to continue their volunteer work at St. Stephen's church in
July of 2007 and has been running a community dinner every Monday night. Seeing the need for this type of service within the downtown community, CC started
another day at St. Stephens, every other Tuesday, and has been running since November 2007.
We are a community from many churchs and many backgrounds. We are here to show grace and love to the people we serve, as well as to find true meaning in what it means to do Good works.
Each evening, we provide a hot meal, worship service and opportunity to fellowship. On average, we serve approximately 115 people an evening. We have a diverse group of volunteers from across the GTA to help set up, cook, serve, sing and clean up. If you have a desire to help out, we have many opportunities every Monday and Tuesday!
